5 reason not to buy Aakash Android Tablet

Both Aakash and UbiSlate 7 is scheduled for launch in January at a price of Rs 2,999. Ubislate7 the next DataWind product stands out as a better deal from the original Aakash. It is notable that DataWind has not yet provided information on the availability of the  Aakash and seems to be focus on release of UbiSlate 7. Buyers may regret investing in a  Aakash, as update is coming in a few weeks with a marginal price increase. It would have better if DataWind has released Ubislate 7 as original Aakash. It would has won numerous awards over.
Top fiv reasons why Ubislate 7 is better then Aakash is

Connectivity
In case of connectivity , the original Aakash only supports Wi-Fi. As the different parts of India have no access to network options such as Wi-Fi. One of the main ideas behind the Aakash was to fill the gap between rural India and technology. Aakash tablet with its limitation to the possibilities of wireless networking is unlikely to meet the goal.On the other side, the 7 UbiSlate supports both GPRS and Wi-Fi. It also  support 3G modems as an option. Two full size USB ports are integrated into the unit for pen drives, web-cams and , external keyboards and dongles. The UbiSlate 7 is likely to see more friendliness in rural India.

Battery
Battery life is an important factor for mobile devices. Aakash tablet comes with a battery 2100 mAh, which is estimated to provide up to 3 hours backup, depending on use. The UbiSlate 7 comes with a powerful 3200 mAh.

Performance
The Aakash is based on Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and processor is  by ARM11 - 366 MHz . The tablet has a screen seven-inch resistive touchscreen having 800x480 pixels resolution. It has 256 MB of RAM. The UbiSlate 7 is based on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system and is powered by a better Cortex A8 - 700 MHz processor. The 7 UbiSlate is most likely to come with a capacitive touch screen.

UbiSlate 7 is also a phone
The UbiSlate 7 is not limited to just net surfing. It has SIM functionality to make voice calls. SIM functionality will certainly appeal to many  Aakash enthusiasts. The original Aakash has no such function.

Android Market
The tablet Aakash does not support access to Android Market, which means many applications, ranging from education and entertainment, will not be available on the device. Document formats are supported by Aakash: DOC, DOCX, PPT, PPTX, XLS, XLSX, ODT, ODP, and can also run a PDF viewer and text editor. However, access to the apps could be a major advantage. DataWind may apply to the limitation in their UbiSlate by providing access to the Android Market or pre-load applications a little more into the unit
